Description

NEA Engineering Company Limited (NEC) and Rastriya Prasaran Grid Company Limited (RPGCL) entered into the contract on 16th December 2018 for Detailed Engineering and Environmental Study of Kimathanka Arun Arun Hub 400 kV Double Circuit Transmission Line Project. The main objective of this Transmission Line project is to evacuate power generated in the Arun River Basin to the National Grid as well as to the cross boarder power trade with China in the future. This project lies completely within the Sankhuwasabha district of the Province -1, Nepal. The total length of the transmission line is approximately 35 km traversing from Makalu Rural Municipality (RM) through

Rastriya Prasaran Grid Company Ltd. is the owner of the project. The project scope includes the design of 400 kV Double Circuit Transmission Line from Kimathanka – Arun Substation at Haitar to Arun Hub Substation at Sitalpati, the design of 400/132 kV Kimathanka Arun Substation at Haitar and Connecting bay at Arun Hub Substation at Sitalpati. Other major task is Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) study for the whole of the transmission line length and Kimathanka Arun Substation at Haitar.

Major Scope of Works are as follows.

  1. Project Inception and Design Basis Memorandum.
  2. Detail Survey of transmission Line.
  3. Environment and Social Assessment.
  4. Detail design of 400 kV D/C Transmission Line.
  5. Detail design of 400/132 kV GIS substation.
  6. Project Cost Estimate and Economic/Financial Analysis
  7. Preparation of construction planning / schedule, Bidding Documents of Transmission Line and Substation.

NEC has completed three major milestones viz. project inception and design basis memorandum, detail survey of transmission lines and detail design of transmission lines. Environment and social assessment is ongoing. Soil investigation for foundation design of transmission line towers and substation structures has initiated. Layout design of 400/132kV GIS Substation is near completion.

Tower design for 400 kV double circuit quad-moose ACSR conductor configuration is ongoing.

The project duration is 15 months from the commencement of services (30 days to the contract sign date).
