Description

Trishuli 3B Hub substation – Ratmate substation 220 kV transmission line is one of the lines NEA is considering to develop to evacuate the power in the Trishuli corridor. NEA has entrusted NEA Engineering Company Limited to carry out the feasibility study of the project “Trishuli 3B – Ratmate 220 kV Transmission Line Project”.

Contract agreement was signed between Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) and NEA Engineering Company to carry out the feasibility study of the project “Trishuli 3B – Ratmate 220 kV Transmission Line Project” on 18th November, 2018 for 8 months. Details of objectives and scope of work of the Consultancy Services was as below:

  1. The scope of the consultation project included the detailed survey, transmission line design, including transmission line tower spotting and tower scheduling along with the BOQ, Cost Estimate, Technical Specifications of the Transmission Lines and associated equipment and structures, electrical equipment for line bay extension, Load Flow Analysis and Financial Analysis of the project.
  2. The substation works include extension of the line bays in the under-construction or planned substation

In this particular transmission line project, NEC implemented the Geographic Information System (GIS) based transmission line routing methodology successfully. A series of raster files such as land type, slope, elevation etc. were created for terrain modeling and a final route was obtained using computer based computation. The route was checked and verified in site and adjustments were made as necessary. The final design of transmission line was on the updated route obtained from GIS methodology.

The project was successfully completed and closed on 17th September, 2019 with 2 month extension period due to implementation of Geographic Information System (GIS) based routing of Transmission Line.
